Tug newbuilding programme in Spain

Sketch of the multi-purpose tug designed by Robert Allan

Scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2016, the two tugs of Robert Allan Ltd design have a length of 31.57m and beam of 12.8m. Equipped with two 32R5/265-2 Voith Schneider Propellers (VSP), two 1330 DTL Turbo Couplings, two Renk bow-tooth couplings and a control stand in each of the two multi-purpose tugs, they are said to ensure reliable propulsion and excellent maneuverability in ports and at sea.
The programme comprises construction of up to ten Advanced Voith Water Tractors (AVTs) with a bollard pull of 80 tonnes in the next five years.

As part of a newbuilding programme to increase its current tug capability in Spanish ports, Boluda Corporación Marítima, subsidiary of Boluda Towage and Salvage, has commissioned the Spanish Astilleros Zamakona shipyard to build the first two vessels.
