Dutch company Titan LNG, an independent supplier of LNG marine fuel, plans construction of an LNG bunkering barge and announces a development tender.

To be called Krios, the vessel will increase availability of LNG as a marine fuel in the port of Zeebrugge and in English Channel ports. The newbuilding will operate with multiple tanks to segregate streams of LNG and bio-LNG, the sustainable carbon neutral fuel produced from biological waste streams.

The seagoing vessel will have a capacity of 4,200cu.m. It should start operations in 2023 and will be equipped with facilities to enable fast, flexible and reliable LNG supply. The barge design was undertaken by HB Hunte engineering.

Mr Michael Schaap, Titan LNG’s Commercial Director Marine, said: “As demand for LNG, and increasingly bio-LNG, accelerates, ensuring the right infrastructure and supply is in place for our customers is essential.”
