SunStone orders sixth Infinity-Class Vessel

It is the sixth vessel in a series for the small-ship/expedition ship market. They have a passenger capacity of 130 to 200 people and a capacity for 85 to 115 crew members. SunStone President and chief executive officer Mr Niels-Erik Lund said: “We continue to move forward with the contracts and building at a very satisfactory speed, safety and quality level.” Infinity-Class vessels are 104m long, and 18m wide and have a draught of 5.1m. The vessels are Ice Class 1A, Polar Code 6 and are being built with safe return to port, dynamic systems. The vessels have designs including the X-Bow from Norwegian group Ulstein Design & Solutions. The design is aimed to be small enough to give an exclusive atmosphere and yet large enough to yield all expected services and facilities such as a swimming pool, bar and restaurants, lounges, boutique, gym and spa. The sixth vessel now ordered already has a long-term charter agreement in place, and this vessel will be delivered September 2021. In addition to the six vessels already ordered, SunStone is in negotiations for four additional vessels where it is expected that Infinity vessel number seven will be signed within May this year and the remaining three options will be signed within 2019.

U.S. cruise group SunStone Ships said it has signed an agreement to build one more Infinity-class cruise ship with Chinese yard China Merchants Heavy Industry.
