STX delivers Mein Schiff 3

Mein Schiff 3 will start operating on June 13th 2014, with its maiden voyage starting from Hamburg and heading for Palma de Mallorca

STX Finland Oy’s Turku Shipyard has handed over the cruise vessel Mein Schiff 3 to TUI Cruises.

The Mein Schiff 3 and its sister vessel Mein Schiff 4 (scheduled for delivery in spring 2015) are each 295m long, 35.8m wide and have a tonnage of 99,700gt each. Their main diesel generators are two Wärtsilä 12V46F four-stroke engines with 12,400 kW each, and two Wärtsilä 8L46F engines with 9,600 kW, supplying two ABB electrical motors of 14,000 kW each. They drive two solid propellers for a speed of 21.8 knots.
An AEP scrubber system is provided to eliminate sulphur emissions almost entirely, while particle emissions are reduced by about 60%. Manoeuvring is facilitated by five transversal thrusters, three 3,000-kW units installed forward and two 1,000-kW aft.
At double occupancy there is space for 2,506 passengers, who are served by a crew of about 1,000. Of the 1,253 cabins, some 82% have a balcony.
