Strategic Marine wins four-vessel order

Singapore yard Strategic Marine has won a contract to build four 40m-long fast crew boats. New Malaysian client, Surya Nautika, provides marine transportation and offshore support services for the Malaysian offshore oil and gas industry. The vessels are scheduled to be delivered in stages between 2023 and 2024.

Strategic Marine's 40m Gen3 were designed in cooperation by Southerly Designs of Australia. The newbuildings will include special layout and features for Surya Nautika. They are designed to meet the specific requirements of global oil majors and will feature, among others, a remote-controlled water monitor with a capacity of 1,200m3 an hour, making equipping them to carry out fire-fighting roles and safety standby duties. The vessels are powered by Caterpillar C32 engines driving fixed pitch propellers. Station-keeping and manoeuvering capability is enhanced by a tunnel thruster installed at the bow. The passenger saloon offers 80 seats arranged with either single or twin seats in each row to provide additional space and privacy.
