The R-class vessels are designed in accordance with the polar code with LR NAV1 notation, ensuring safe operation in remote regions, including the Arctic.
The supply package will include four multi-functional work stations for chart radar, ECDIS and conning, as well as a separate work station for conning and route planning. Digital X- and S-band radars will be fully integrated, as well as a high precision NP5400 trackpilot, gyro compasses, and other sensors. The system also includes a rack for PCs, network components and extenders.
Synapsis NX is fully compliant with the latest IMO and International Electrotechnical Commission performance and test standards.

Dutch shipowner Spliethoff is to install Synapsis NX integrated navigation systems on six new ice-classed multi-purpose vessels under construction at Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding in China and due for delivery in 2019.
