Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard has signed contracts for two Arctic freezer trawlers with customers from Denmark and the Faroe Islands. Designs for the two vessels were created by Norwegian ship design consultants Skipsteknisk (SK-119) and both will be classified by DNV GL. One vessel has been ordered by Ocean Prawns A/S from Denmark. It will measure 82.3m long and 18m wide and will have a shrimp plant and a turbot production factory with 1,200 tonnes of fish storage capacity. The trawler will have accommodation for 35 personnel with large cabins with a high standard of accommodation. It is due to be delivered in the last quarter of 2022. Tersan has also signed a contract for another vessel with P/F Havborg from the Faroe Islands. It will measure 87.4m long and 18m wide and will be an advanced factory trawler. It will be laid out with a fillet production factory deck, a shrimp-processing line and a fishmeal/oil plant. This trawler will have accommodation for 40 people and is also scheduled to be delivered in fourth quarter of 2022.
