Norway’s Vard Langsten has delivered the second of three ice-class expedition cruise ships to Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
The 139m-long HANSEATIC inspiration, with capacity for 230 passengers in 120 cabins follows sister ship HANSEATIC nature, delivered by the Norwegian yard in May, while a third vessel – HANSEATIC spirit – is due to be commissioned in 2021.
Construction of the 16,000gt HANSEATIC inspiration has involved close cooperation between companies within the Vard and Fincantieri network, working closely with Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. The vessel is a Vard 6 07 design, classed by DNV GL with ice class PC6. The hull was built at Vard Tulcea in Romania before being towed to Vard Langsten for outfitting in March. Group companies involved in the ship’s construction include the Fincantieri Group’s Marine Interiors and Vard subsidiaries – Vard Electro, Vard Accommodation and Vard Piping.
