Schottel wins propulsion contract for Mediterranean bunkering vessel
Schottel is to provide a package of propulsion systems for an 8,000m3 LNG bunkering vessel currently under construction in China. The 5,300dwt vessel, due for delivery in mid-2023, is being built at Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore and Engineering for Italian shipping company, Fratelli Cosulich, and will provide LNG bunkers to customers in the Mediterranean.
Schottel will supply two diesel-driven EcoPellers type SRE 360 with propeller diameter 2.3m, and two TransverseThrusters type STT 1 CP for extra manoeuvrability in port areas. The 113m-long vessel will have a service speed of 13 knots. President of Fratelli Cosulich LNG, Andrea Cosulich, said: “Developing the LNG infrastructure is a key area for us, and we are very pleased that Schottel is supporting us with the delivery of high-efficiency propulsion systems in this project. We are convinced that their experience and competence will enable secure, reliable, and optimised vessel operations.”
