Schottel launches new shallow-water thruster

The thrust and propulsion efficiency of the Schottel Pump Jet type SPJ 30 has been further enhanced, particularly by means of CFD optimisations

The Schottel Pump Jet type SPJ 30, which extends the power range up to 150 kW, is suitable for a broad range of vessel types, the company said, including passenger vessels, ferries, workboats and cargo vessels.
Thrust and propulsion efficiency have been enhanced with the help of computational fluid dynamics, and the unit’s compact design enables space-saving installation and minimal displacement loss. The versatile thruster can be powered by diesel engines, electric or hydraulic motors and above-water gearboxes are available as Z- or L-types.

Spay-based Schottel is introducing a new shallow-water thruster, suitable both for newbuildings and retrofit upgrades.
