Satellite communication system presented at Posidonia

The provider of maritime satellite communication antenna systems, Intellian Technologies Inc, is presenting a new VSAT communications technology at the Posidonia exhibition, currently taking place in Athens, Greece.

The v110GX 3-Axis Ku-Band VSAT communications antenna includes Ku-/Ka- band antenna reflector and radome, enhanced to meet the RF performance and capability required for the future. It has been designed to provide unparalleled performance for both current Ku-band services as well as Inmarsat’s upcoming Global Xpress™ Service. According to Intellian, the functionality of the antenna will easily transform into GX high throughput broadband service globally when Inmarsat’s I-5 Ka-band satellites are launched and operational in 2014. A gyro-free satellite search function is said to enable the v110GX to acquire and lock onto the satellite without requiring separate input from the ship’s gyro-compass. In addition, a three-axis stabilised pedestal assembly offers unlimited azimuth, enhanced elevation range and cross-level to ensure service quality even at high latitudes and extreme operating conditions. The v110GX is equipped with a patent-pending Global PLL LNB as standard, which is capable of receiving all global satellite signals by using programmable L.O. frequencies. Additionally, the v110GX comes with co-pol and cross-pol functionality serially.
