Russian tankers with VOS ballast water treatment systems
At Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), two 320,000 dwt VLCC are being built for Russian shipowner Sovcomflot.
N.E.I. Treatment Systems, based in Los Angeles, announced an order from the Chinese yard for two Venturi Oxygen StrippingTM (VOS) Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) to be installed aboard the two tankers for Sovcomflot. The two 6,300 m3/hr VOS Systems are scheduled to be delivered in the first and second quarters of 2012, representing the largest BWTS ordered to date by Bohai, as N.E.I. states. The new order follows the successful commissioning in July of a 6,350 m3/hr VOS System on the first of four VLCCs built in Korea, as well as the commissioning in August of a 4,400 m3/hr VOS System on one of six 118,000 dwt bulkers built in China.
