Robert Allan-designed ATB tugs constructed at ITB's Annacis Island Shipyard

The tugs are being built at ITB’s Annacis Island Shipyard near Vancouver. The tugs will be connected by an articulating pin system to the existing double-hulled oil barges ITB Reliant and ITB Resolution which will receive retrofitted pin ladders and stern extensions for connecting to the new tugs. The tug design was developed jointly by ITB Marine and marine architects Robert Allan Ltd. The tugs will measure 24.9m long, 12.50m wide and have a depth of 3.65m. They will have a fuel oil capacity of 99.8cu.m and a fresh water capacity of 14.4cu.m. Propulsion machinery will comprise Cummins KTA 38 main engines each delivering 634 kW/850 BHP. The first tug will be delivered in the second quarter of 2017.

Canada’s ITB Marine Group (ITB) is currently constructing the first of two twin Z-drive ATB pusher tugs for service on the West Coast of North America.
