The ship, which will be built specifically for the difficult operating conditions in the Arctic and Antarctic, will accommodate 200 passengers in 103 cabins and will have a crew of 116. The vessel will be 128m long and 21.5m wide and will
have four main engines with diesel-electric gensets producing a total power of 4,400 kW with a 16-knot top speed. Vessel design and project documentation is from LMG Marin As of Norway, part of Sembcorp Marine.
The vessel is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2020, in time for the 2020/2021 Antarctic sailing season. Brodosplit confirmed the order but did not give the value of the contract, but according to reports in Croatian government circles the vessel will cost 110 million euros. The Croatian government decided to give a refund guarantee of the buyer’s advanced payment, which secured construction financing. Among features of the new ship will be two simultaneously operable helicopter decks, allowing for the exploration of some of the most remote areas of the world, and an internal Zodiac launch hangar designed to enable quicker and safer passenger disembarkation. The ship will also offer a high accommodation standard with large cabins, multiple restaurants plus extensive indoor and outdoor observation space.

Croatia’s Brodosplit yard has an order worth 110 million euros to build a passenger ship for sailings in the Polar regions from Quark Expeditions of the United States.
