Port of Waterford invests in new pilot boat

The Port of Waterford in Ireland has placed an order with shipyard Safehaven Marine, based in Youghal, Co Cork Ireland, to design and build a new pilot boat fitted with the latest marine safety technology. The contract is worth almost 1 million euros. The vessel to be named Port Láirge is scheduled to come into service in September 2021.

It will be 15m long and designed to provide safer working conditions for pilotage personnel.

Recent vessels launched at Safehaven Marine include pilot boats for Montevideo in Uruguay and the Port of Coruna in Northern Spain.
