The construction will be carried out as part of the program aimed at the renewal of port fleet managed by the Polar Transport Branch of MMC Norilsk Nickel. By ordering the vessel at OJSC Krasnoyarsk Shipyards the company increases the utilization rate of its production assets.
Under the fleet renewal program, a maritime tow boat will be built by OJSC Leningrad Shipyards Pella, and river tow boat by OJSC Nizhegorodsky Teplokhod Plant.
Implementation of Norilsk Nickel’s program envisaging the renewal of the Polar Transport Branch port fleet in cooperation with domestic shipyards corresponds to the general policy of the Russian government to expand the utilization of Russian shipbuilding facilities.
