French yard Piriou has developed a new concept of crew transfer vessel (CTV) with hydrogen hybrid propulsion.

The vessel has a length overall of 27m and breadth of 9.7m. Maximum speed is 25 knots and five tonnes of cargo can be carried. In addition to a crew of three, 24 other personnel can be taken on board. Hydrogen is stored in a 20-foot container.

Piriou is one of the three winners of the call for notification of interest of the offshore wind innovation challenge competition managed by offshore operator wpd France and the Brittany maritime cluster Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique. The design will now be completed and offered on the market.
