French yard Piriou has an order for a 55m-long fast platform supply vessel (FPSV) from Saudi Arabian customer Jana Marine Services. It will be built by Piriou’s yard in Vietnam and is scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2020 for operation in Middle East Gulf waters.

The vessel will have a top speed of 34 knots. Piriou in 2017 delivered two similar vessels to Jana Marine. The type FPSV 55w now ordered is an aluminium vessel able to perform multiple functions in the offshore oil industry, including crew transfer and supply. The design features a straight hull aiming to improve performance and crew comfort. It also aims to offer a range of benefits including improved speed for the same energy consumption fully loaded or light, and much reduced consumption at economical speed. It has a lounge with seating for 60 personnel with high comfort, and a large cargo deck with 226 tonnes capacity. Its waterjet propulsion gives improved manoeuvrability and safety thanks to the class 2 dynamic positioning system.
