OCEA wins tender to construct a survey vessel

French shipyard OCEA yard has won an international tender to build a 35m hydrographic research vessel for the navy of Nigeria. This order follows the delivery of various vessels to the African country during past eight years.

The type OCEA OSV (offshore support vessel) 115 SC-WB will be able to handle anti-oil spill operations, general patrol, search and rescue plus diving support. To carry out its missions, the vessel will be equipped with a multi-beam echosounder, a single-beam echosounder, means of water sampling, storage and analysis, a laboratory and a 5.6m hydrographic boat for surveys in small and very shallow waters. The 25m-long newbuilding will carry 12 crew and passengers, reach a speed of 12 knots and will have a range of 3,000 nautical miles.
