The 167,725gt vessel, NCL’s 15th cruise ship, is the second in the Breakaway-Plus class and incorporates a range of features designed to provide a “first class at sea” experience for Chinese passengers.
“Norwegian Joy’s delivery marks a momentous occasion in our company’s history,” declared Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer of NCL. “We are very grateful for the outstanding team at Meyer Werft, along with our operations teams and more than 1,800 crew members, who once again have delivered an exceptional vessel.”
David Herrera, NCL Holdings president, speaking at a pre-delivery ceremony in Shanghai, said that the onboard experience had been expanded and customised with exciting features, services and amenities that combine the best of East and West. “We are honoured to deliver this spectacular ship to our Chinese guests and we can’t wait to see Norwegian Joy come to life when she welcomes her first guests upon her arrival in China this June,” he said.
Now that the 20-deck vessel has been delivered, the Norwegian Joy will set sail for China where a series of one-day regional events will be held to show off the ship. These will include port calls in Singapore, Qingdao, Shenzen and Hong Kong. The ship will be officially named at a ceremony led by its Godfather, Chinese pop star Wang Leehom, on June 27th.
