Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) and Fincantieri have agreed a deal for the design and construction of three new cruise vessels, which will underpin fleet development between now and 2037.
The agreement covers a new vessel for each of the cruise company’s three subsidiaries – Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), Oceania Cruises (OC), and Regent Seven Seas Cruises (RSSC). One vessel will be built as a sister to Oceania Sonata, one as a sister to Seven Seas Prestige, and one as a sister to a previously announced Norwegian Cruise Line newbuild order. The ships are to be built in Italy for delivery in 2036 and 2037.
NCLH now has 17 cruise vessels on order, generating a 4% compound annual growth rate between 2026 and 2037. Eight ships will be delivered to NCL; five to OC; and four to RSSC over the period.
John W. Chidsey, president and CEO of NCLH, commented: “Together with Fincantieri, a trusted partner for decades, we continue to advance a disciplined approach to fleet growth that builds on the strength of our brands, defines the future of cruising and elevates the guest experience for years to come. This agreement secures access to valuable shipyard capacity through the end of 2037, supporting our long-term growth while maintaining financial discipline and driving sustainable shareholder value.”
