North sound communities welcome new ferry "Salish"

"Salish"

The 64-car "Salish" will serve the Port Townsend/Coupeville route. After final sea trials she will join her sister ship "Chetzemoka" on the route in July.

"Salish" is the second of three new Kwa-di Tabil class ferries which are built for WSDOT Ferries Division (WSF).They are part of a building programm to replace WSF aging fleet.

Nearly four years after the retirement of the Steel Electric Class ferries, the Washington State Department of Transportation Ferries Division (WSF) welcomes the newest addition to the state ferry fleet.
