Nordbank Hochseefischerei awards factory trawler contract

German fishing company Nordbank Hochseefischerei, part of Netherlands P&P Group, has placed an order for one factory fishing trawler with Turkish shipbuilder Tersan Shipyard. Called Jan Maria, it will replace 22-year-old Gerda Maria. Deliver of the new vessel is scheduled for July 2023.

The new vesselt will measure 88.1m long and 18.3m wide. It was designed by Norwegian marine architect Skipsteknisk. The new trawler will have a 7,000-kW main engine powering a 4.3m-diameter propeller, reaching a speed of approx. 15 kn. 43 people can be accommodated in single and double cabins. The factory deck on board will have processing lines for shrimp and groundfish, with a 100-tonne per day freezing capacity for filleted and whole frozen catches.
