US-headquartered Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc has taken delivery of the polar cruise vessel National Geographic Resolution from Ulstein Verft. The vessel is now ready to set off for its inaugural polar voyage exploring Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falklands in mid-November.

The 124.4m-long and 21m-wide expedition cruise vessel has been designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS as the “ultimate expedition platform with a focus on safety and comfort” the shipbuilder said in a statement. The National Geographic Resolution features the distinctive X-Bow®, which provides fuel efficiency and gives a smoother ride with softer motions in head seas.

The vessel has ice class PC5 and is equipped with emission reduction systems that meet EPA Tier 4/IMO Tier III emission standards. It has capacity for 126 passengers and a crew of 112.
