New shipyard delivers first vessel

CBO Oceana during sea trials

Following delivery to shipowner Oceana Offshore, the CBO Oceana began a six-year charter contract for the Brazilian state-run oil company Petrobras.
The yard's manager, Paul Kempers, said the vessel's sea trial had shown "excellent results in speed, fuel consumption and seakeeping". A sister vessel under construction at the yard is scheduled for completion by the end of this year's second quarter.
According to Ulstein, the PX105 is a large PSV design suitable for work in the Brazilian oil industry. The 4,7000dwt vessels are 88.9m long, 19m wide and accommodate 23 people. They have a high operational window, can take on complex assignments far from shore and come with the X-BOW® hull line design feature that minimises slamming and abrupt stops from waves, Ulstein said.
The company's contract with Oceana Offshore, founded in 2011 and based in Rio de Janeiro, includes designs and an extended main equipment package, as well as engineering and purchase support.

The new Oceana shipyard in Itajai, Brazil, has delivered its very first newbuild, a platform supply vessel (PSV) of the PX105 design from Norway's Ulstein Group.
