New designed patrol vessel launched
"Defender V"
Designed by Kvichak Marine, this vessel can be used as a fast response patrol boat, survey boat, crew boat or general work boat.
The "Defender V" is powered by twin Scania DI12 69M marine diesel engines. The engines are coupled to ZF 360A transmissions that drive Michigan propellers. In trials, the "Defender V" was able to achieve a flank speed of 30+ knots. The vessel features a very large aft work-deck with tie-pockets, a SWL A-frame with hydraulic drum winch, and a side mounted davit. The A-frame can facilitate launch and recovery of skiffs/ROVs and can accommodate an over-height 20’ long x 8’ wide container loaded on the aft deck.
As per Kvichak, "Defender V" represents the current state of the art for foil assisted catamarans of this type.
