Outfitting of Lindblad Expedition’s latest cruise vessel, National Geographic Resolution, has begun at Ulstein Verft in Norway. The hull, built at Gdynia in Poland, is being transferred to the Norwegian shipyard’s dock hall where outfitting work will be carried out over the coming winter months. Engines and thrusters were installed in Poland and work at Ulstein will centre on insulation, electrical installations and hotel outfitting.

Meanwhile, the first of the two Lindblad vessels, National Geographic Endurance, is lying alongside the quay at the Ulstein yard. Although the expedition vessel was delivered in March, it will not make her inaugural voyage until the Lindblad reactivates its cruise programme.

The two 124.4m-long vessels, with capacity for 126 passengers, have Ulstein’s distinctive X-Bow, originally developed for offshore support vessels operating in harsh conditions. The bow configuration reduces slamming and vibration and improves seakeeping capabilities while also providing unobstructed views of scenery and wildlife.

Delivery of the National Geographic Resolution is planned for 2021.
