Namegiving of Odense newbuilding L215

At the namegiving ceremony: from the left Chief Engineer Torben Dam Hjortshøj, Finn Buus Nielsen, Managing Director, Odense Steel Shipyard, the godmother of "Marit Maersk" Donatienne van Boxmeer, Nils S. Andersen, Partner and Group CEO, A.P. Moller - Maersk and Captain Benny Otto Rasmussen

"Marit Maersk" is the fifth ship in a series of six container ships. The ship is designed and built to meet the highest demands for safe, precise, environmentally friendly and economic transportation of goods all over the globe. Among other things, a waste heat recovery system is installed to optimise the use of the energy produced.
"Marit Maersk" is a highly automated ship thoroughly monitored by advanced computer systems to ensure an optimal and efficient operation.
To minimize the fuel consumption and thereby CO2 emissions the 12-cylinder Wärtsilä RT-flex diesel engine has been optimised for a more efficient and economical service speed. After delivery the vessel will enter Maersk Line's worldwide liner services.

On 22 November the latest newbuilding at Odense Steel Shipyard, a 7,000 TEU container ship for the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group, was named "Marit Maersk".
