The cabins are being built for installation on ships in Star Cruises’ Global class, and mega-yachts in Crystal Cruises’ Endeavor class, on which construction will begin in 2018.
The MV Werften sister company will build about 3,400 passenger cabins, suites and crew cabins for each vessel in the Global-class of cruise ships, and just less than 150 cabins for each of the Endeavor-class luxury yachts. The first cabin modules will be delivered in spring 2018 to MV Werften’s three shipyards in Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund where the ships will be built.
The heart of the cabin construction plant is the 75m-long production line where 15 coordinated work processes enable one cabin to be produced every 20 minutes, or approximately 20 cabins a day. The current workforce of about 50 people is likely to grow to 200 over the medium term when cabin production will increase to about 7,000 units a year, probably around the middle of the next decade.
