Multraship and Damen agree deals for three more ASD tugs
Two ASD tugs 3212, which will be built in Vietnam, will be deployed by Multraship as sister vessels to the 83-tonne bollard pull Multratug 19, which started operation in 2012. Scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2015, the tugs will have excellent sea-keeping behaviour, superb manoeuvrability and outstanding towing characteristics, Damen said.
The third vessel, an ASD tug 2810 hybrid, will be built in Romania with its delivery also scheduled for the first quarter of 2015.
The ASD tug 2810 hybrid has an expected bollard pull of 61 tonnes. Its diesel-direct, diesel-electric and battery-powered propulsion system can achieve fuel savings of 10 to 30% and reduced emissions of about 60%, depending on how the vessel is used, the Dutch shipbuilder noted.
Leendert Muller, managing director of Multraship, said: “Multraship continues to expand its client base in the offshore energy sector as well as in its harbour towage operations. All three ASD tugs are highly suitable for these markets whilst their FIFI 1 fire-fighting equipment makes them especially valuable for emergency response.
