MISC takes delivery of last Seri C-class LNG carrier
The 150,200m3 vessel has now joined Moss-type sister vessels Seri Camellia, Seri Cenderawasih, Seri Cempaka and Seri Camar in a long-term charter to parent company Petronas, the Malaysian state energy company.
The Seri C-class vessels, part of MISC’s long-term fleet expansion strategy, are designed for worldwide trading and can call at all major LNG terminals as well as floating LNG facilities. The Seri Camellia was the first ever Moss-type vessel to call at a floating LNG unit when it serviced the PFLNG Satu last year.
The Moss type vessels, with four spherical tanks, have an integrated hull structure to shield the tanks, provide additional protection for cargoes and give greater flexibility for operation in harsh weather conditions. The ships have Pre-Swirl Ducts, Propeller Boss Cap Fins and X-twister rudders for energy savings and greater manoeuvrability. They are powered by steam turbines supplied by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery and Engine Company, and are also equipped with selective catalytic reduction systems for their diesel generators and ozone ballast water treatment systems.
