MAN gensets for Chinese-built offshore wind vessel

The MAN 21/31 genset will power the new offshore heavy cargo deck carrier

Two MAN 9L 21/31 and two MAN 6L 16/24 gensets will be provided for the specialised vessel, ordered by Hamburg-based United Wind Logistics which has contracted Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG for construction supervision and technical management. The order includes options for two more vessels.
The DP2 vessel, constructed to a Heavylift@Sea design, is being built to meet possible future emission regulations in the North and Baltic seas. It will have a selective catalytic reduction system to ensure compliance with possible IMO Tier III NOx emission regulations in case they are introduced, without obligation, in NOx emission control areas (ECAs) in the North and Baltic seas before 2021.
The 148.5m-long vessel, with a breadth of 28m, will operate primarily in European waters and will meet the strict requirements for transporting offshore wind farm components including blades, nacelles and towers.

Four medium-speed gensets, to be built by MAN Energy Solutions’ licensee, CMP, in China, are to be installed on board an offshore wind support vessel under construction at Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard.
