Belgian gas infrastructure company Fluxys and Titan LNG, a bunker supplier, will commission the new FlexFueler 002 LNG bunker barge on the Port of Antwerp’s Quay 526/528 in February. Fluxys will provide truck-to-ship bunkering services and Titan LNG will operate a permanent bunkering point for inland waterway and coastal vessels.

The latest addition to the port’s LNG bunkering network, together with other infrastructure already in operation there, will enable new low- or zero-carbon fuels to be supplied when they become available, soon after the new barge starts operating. The fuels will include liquefied biogas, processed from organic waste, and liquefied synthetic methane, from green hydrogen and captured CO2.

Titan LNG chief technology officer, Ronald van Selm, said: “Building on the very fruitful cooperation during the development and building process, we are confident that together with Fluxys, LNG bunkering in Antwerp will be a daily business soon. Jointly with the Port of Antwerp, we have already delivered LNG numerous times with the FlexFueler001, so we can guarantee our customers the safety framework is in place and functioning.”
