Launch of US Navy's third Littoral Combat Ship

Launch of "Fort Worth"

The contract for the 118 m long "Fort Worth" was awarded to the Lockheed Martin-led industry team in March 2009. Only 20 months later, the ship is 80 percent complete. Now formally christened and launched, "Fort Worth" will continue to undergo outfitting and testing at Marinette Marine before delivery to the Navy in 2012.

The Lockheed Martin-led industry team launched the third Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) for the US Navy at the Marinette Marine shipyard, part of the Fincantieri group.
