Launch of training vessel Almak

Versatile new type of training vessel: Almak

The 44m-long and 9.6m-wide Almak is the result of a close collaboration between DCI (Defense Conseil International) and Piriou who created the company navOcéan in July 2012 to build the training vessel, designed as the prototype of a new generation of MTV - robust and manoeuvrable, and economical in terms of investment and operating costs.
It will primarily be used for academic high-level training organised by DCI in conjunction with the Naval Academy. With a small crew of eight people, the
ship can carry a dozen cadets. It is said to sail at sea for 35-40 weeks per year. First trainings at sea will be undertaken still this autumn, as DCI says.

In Concarneau, French-based shipyard Piriou has delivered the versatile maritime training vessel (MTV) Almak.
