Launch of ‘TCSG Güven’

Launch of a coast guard vessel at RMK Marine

TCSG Güven”, the second vessel of the four Coast Guard Search and Rescue Ships that are built by RMK Marine, a Koç Group affiliate, for the Turkish Coast Guard Command, was launched at RMK Marine Shipyard, Istanbul.

 

As per Rahmi M. Koç, Honorary Chairman of the Koç Group, the launch of the third ship will also take place in 2011 and the delivery of all of the ships will be completed in 2012. For the first vessel, "TCSG Dost" sea trials have started and will continue until September. The last two vessels “TCSG Umut” and "TCSG Yasam” will also be delivered to the service of Turkish Coast Guard Command in 2012.

The four vessels that will also provide fire fighting and environmental pollution prevention operations, apart from their usual tasks of search and rescue, patrolling and smuggling prevention. The ships will be the first vessels operated by Turkish Coast Guard that can support helicopter operations.

An engineers' team of RMK Marine will also perform the necessary training for the personnel of the vessels.
