Launch of ocean graphic vessel

"Ramon Margalef"

In line with the renewal of its fleet the Institute ordered a second vessel. The sister vessel "Angeles Alvarino" is said to be delivered in 2012.

The 46 m long "Ramon Margalef" is equipped with advanced laboratories and technology. Having room for 12 crew memebers and 11 scientists the vessel is said to study, among others, marine geology, geography, marine biology and environmental control. It is designed to emit low noise levels.

At the Spanish shipyard Armon the new ocean graphic vessel "Ramon Margalef" for the Spanish Ocean Graphic Institute (IEO) was lauched and is expected to be taken over within a few months.
