Launch of multi-purpose deck cargo vessel

The multi-purpose vessel was recently launched

STX Finland Oy Turku shipyard has recently launched the multi-purpose deck cargo vessel built for Gaiamare Ltd. The vessel will be approximately 105.4m long and 18.8m wide. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered in late spring 2012.

The modern and environmentally friendly multi-purpose deck cargo vessel is designed to operate globally and can be utilised for various tasks including the transport of demanding project cargo such as offshore wind farm structures and energy wood in the Baltic Sea, according to the shipyard. The ice class 1A vessel will be able to operate efficiently in demanding ice conditions. The vessel is also capable of operating in oil spill response activities.
The main engines of the vessel can use bio oil as fuel.
The launching was carried out near the shipyard’s construction basin following traditions of the yard with representatives from Gaiamare Ltd, the classification society Bureau Veritas and STX Finland.
