Launch of Korean Aegis destroyer

Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries recently launched the third 7,600 t class Aegis destroyer, the "Ryu Sung-ryong".

The 165.9 m long and 21 m wide vessel is equipped with an Aegis combat system including Spy-1D radar, capable of detecting and tracking 1,000 target simultaneously, as the yard states. After sea trials "Ryu Sung-ryong" is scheduled for delivery to the Republic of Korea Navy by August 2012.
