Hamburg-based Opus Marine GmbH has named and commissioned the latest addition to its offshore service fleet, Allegro, a Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2710.

Built at Damen’s Turkish shipyard in Antalya, the FCS is the first of its kind to fly the German flag and has already been deployed in the transport of technicians to and from offshore wind farms. The latest FCS joins a fleet of six similar Opus Marine vessels operating in the North and Baltic seas.

The design of Damen’s FCS 2710 has been developed from the shipbuilder’s earlier FCS 2610, one of which Opus Marine already operates.

The latest vessel has more tank capacity and additional accommodation. It also has the same twin-axe bow for good seakeeping, but has an extra metre of freeboard, giving the vessel a wider weather window. It can operate safely in wave heights of more than 2m, Damen said.

Bernhard Messer, managing director of Opus Marine, commented: “Damen has proven itself to be an impressively reliable partner, characterised by excellent back-office services and consistently high-quality technical support. The goal is to provide our customers with the best crew transfer service, using only the best ships. We are happy to welcome the Allegro as our newest vessel.”

Opus Marine GmbH is a subsidiary of Berlin-based logistics group, Zeitfracht GmbH & Co KG.
