The Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven says it has signed a contract with DESS Aqua, a joint venture company established by Marine Harvest Norway and Cyprus-headquartered Deep Sea Supply, on construction of a fish harvesting vessel to carry salmon from fish farms to processing plants.

The vessel, of SALT 425 FHV design from Norway's Salt Ship Design, is to be delivered from Kleven's Myklebust yard in March 2018. The contract includes an option for a second vessel.
“There is impressive research and development work being done in the fish farming industry, and this is absolutely an interesting market for us to be in,” said Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven.
