Kleven signs conversion contract for Aker Wayfarer

The Aker Wayfarer is due to commence operations after its modification has been finalised in the fourth quarter of 2016

Kleven’s Myklebust Verft in Gursken, Norway, has signed a contract with the shipowning company Ocean Yield ASA to convert the vessel Aker Wayfarer into a deepwater subsea equipment support vessel (SESV).

The 157m-long and 27m-wide Aker Wayfarer is under long-term charter with AKOFS Offshore and once the conversion is completed will be deployed to install and retrieve subsea trees and modules, including subsea structures and manifolds.
Aker Wayfarer is designed by Vard Design, and was delivered from Vard Søviknes in 2010. It will be the largest vessel that has been in dock at Myklebust Verft. Rolls-Royce in Hjørungavåg will deliver the top-side equipment.
