For the third time, the Belgian company Jan de Nul Dredging has ordered a No Limit 1640 crew tender from the Netherlands-based No Limit Ships Shipyards, Groningen.

With an overall length of 16.4m, a breadth of 5.26m and a draught of 1.3m, accommodation is available for 13 persons. A Caterpillar type C18 main engine of 500 kW powers the newbuilding for a maximum speed of 20 knots. While the hull will be built of steel, the superstructure will be constructed of aluminium.
According to Jan de Nul, good experience with No Limit vessels and uniformity within the fleet are decisive reasons for the order. For the next five years the crewtender is expected to be deployed for various projects in European waters and will be sailing under Belgian flag. At the customer’s request the vessel will be constructed in a way that it will need only minor adjustments at a later stage to make it suitable as a survey vessel.
The order is said to have a sales value of Euro 1,5 to 2 million. According to No Limit Ships Shipyards, the company in addition is now working on the construction of a specially adapted No Limit 1640 survey vessel for a German company and the completion of five 22m tenders for the Dutch pilot services. The order for the five tenders is a project, which will be carried out in cooperation with Barkmeijer Shipyards. While the first two vessels will be completed this year, the last three are due to be completed next year.
