The Cap de Fer was recently delivered

The azimuth stern drive (ASD) vessel, ordered by the Algerian Tranport Ministry in December 2016, will be deployed on tug and escort duties in the north African country’s ports and coastal waters.
The 26m-long vessel, with a width of 10m and a draught of 3.8m, has a bollard pull of 42 tonnes and is powered by two azimuth thrusters driven by two diesel engines developing a total of 3,300hp, giving the tug a top speed of 12.5 knots. The vessel has living quarters for a crew of seven and is classed by Bureau Veritas.
Luigi Duò, Vittoria Shipyard president, said: “We are pleased to have delivered to the Algerian authorities our 869th vessel. It is a boat with cutting-edge technology which for us has, above all, a very significant symbolic value, since it marks our return to the tug market, consolidates the relationship of collaboration and mutual respect with the Algerian authorities and strengthens our presence abroad.”

Italy’s Vittoria Shipyard, based in Adria in the Veneto region, has handed over a EUR 7 million tug, Cap de Fer, to Algeria’s Skikda port authority.
