Impulse in Turkish shipbuilding

To provide the Turkish shipbuilding sector with an impulse, the Turkish government will make a Credit Guarantee Fund.

This development enables shipyards to make investments again.  The President of the Chamber of Maritime Trade (DTO), Metin Kalkavan, states that the guarantee fund is expected to guarantee the finishing of 60 to 100 vessels; over 15% of the ships waiting to be finished now. With this, a year of employment for a minimum of 30,000 people will be created.

The expectation is that the guarantee fund will make a sizeable contribution to the recovery of the badly affected shipbuilding industry. On top of this, it is expected that the financial guarantee will activate frozen loans with Turkish banks for an amount of 2,5 billion dollar on behalf of the shipbuilding industry.
