The 86m-long and 19.5m-wide vessel will be designed by Havyard Design & Solutions in Fosnavaag and is going to be constructed at Havyard Ship Technology’s shipyard in Leirvik in Sogn. It will become newbuild no.122 and is due to be delivered in September 2015. The Russian shipping company has also secured an option for one further Havyard 843 Ice.
The vessel is going to have DNV ice class “Icebreaker Ice 10 and Winterized Cold (-30 °C)”. It can break ice that is more than 1m thick and has systems for avoiding icing of the vessel. Additionally, the Havyard 843 Ice is designed to carry out anchor handling, towing and standby operations for oil protection and rescue services.
It has a bollard pull of 185 tonnes and offers accommodation for 34 persons.

Norway’s Havyard has signed a contract with the Russian shipping company FEMCO for the design and construction of the icebreaking offshore vessel Havyard 843 Ice.
