Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard has won a contract for two more coastal route vessels to be operated by Havila Voyages on the route between Bergen and Kirkeness from 2021.

Tersan is now building all four of the ships to be operated by Havila, following the Norwegian operator’s cancellation of a contract for two vessels at Barreras Shipyard in Spain after the yard ran into financial difficulties. Delivery of the second two ships is scheduled for late 2021.

“What we have seen of Tersan so far in terms of its construction of the first two vessels looks very promising,” said Havila Voyages’ CEO, Arild Myrvoll. “They stick to their schedule and their work is high quality.” From January 2021, the company will operate four of the eleven vessels deployed on the coastal route. However, issues at the Spanish shipyard means that Havila will have to charter in replacement tonnage prior to the delivery of ships three and four from Turkey.
