GL inaugurates new Office in Mumbai

Multi purpose vessels, heavy lift vessels, platform supply vessels as well as tankers are currently being built and on order with Germanischer Lloyd (GL) class in India. In order to meet the rising demand for classificatory services, GL has considerably increased its staff and has moved to a larger office in Mumbai. India's shipping industry in terms of order size now ranks eighth in the world; 18 months ago, it did not even figure in the top 20.

The new office is located in the emerging business district of Bandra, Kurla Complex, close to the old Mumbai Port and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) container terminal thus enabling even better services. In India, Germanischer Lloyd employs 275 experts serving the maritime as well as the oil and gas industry and the expanding renewable energy market. In respect to the maritime industry, GL's service-portfolio includes comprehensive services for shipowners, shipyards, the maritime supply industry and ship design offices.
