Gas tankers under Promef to be built at new shipyard

Promar had won a bid under Promef (Fleet Modernization and Expansion Program) to construct 8 gas tankers  for Transpetro.

Four of the vessels have a capacity of 7000 m³, two a capacity of 12000 m³, and two a capacity of 4000 m³.
With this order, as per transpetro valued at US$ 536 million, over 10 thousand jobs will be generated in the State of Pernambuco. Of this total, 2700 will be created directly (1200 with the construction of the shipyard, and another 1500 with the construction of the ships). Promar is the second shipyard to be built as a result of orders placed by Transpetro. The first, Estaleiro Atlântico Sul (EAS), is now the largest in Brazil and will assemble 22 ships for the government-owned company.

A new shipyard for Estaleiro Promar, subsidiary of STX Norway Offshore AS and partner PJMR Empreendimentos Ltda, will be built at the industrial and port complex of Suape in Pernambuco, Brazil.
