Fully electric public transport ferries from Damen for Copenhagen

Electric propulsion solution for Copenhagen's public transport
The new type, known as the Damen Ferry 2306 E3 will be operated in Copenhagen by Arriva for its client, Danish public transport agency MOVIA. The design aims to reduce the environmental impact of public transport. For the tender process of this contract, Damen’s in-house engineering team considered biodiesel, hybrid and fully electric propulsion. A zero exhaust emission, fully electric solution offered the best results in terms of low pollution, Damen said. Damen has developed a design with a capacity for 80 passengers, tailored so that the vessels can dock at the existing jetties. At the jetties at each end of the route, Damen will install fast charging points. The ferries, without diesel engines, offer very low noise and vibrations.
